The Northern Virginia Community College Educational Foundation (NOVA Foundation) is proud to announce an exceptional gift of $1 million from donor Debra Coffman Howe of Palm Beach, Florida. Ms. Howe is adding to her existing endowed scholarship fund to increase her support for NOVA nursing students.

NOVA Ed. Foundation Launches Emergency Student Aid Fund

NOVA remains open and committed to supporting students through remote learning and services

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Educational Foundation has launched a new emergency student aid fund to assist students struggling with the personal and economic fall-out from the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 60% of NOVA’s 85,000 students work full- or part-time jobs. For many, what little income they have is diminishing rapidly. Financially vulnerable students face furloughs and layoffs as a result of the pandemic, and as child-care options and schools close, student-parents are facing extreme challenges in keeping any employment.

Northern Virginia Community College Implements Remote Learning Plan

Out of an abundance of caution and in support of CDC guidance regarding social distancing during the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) will shift to remote learning. Students should take precautionary measures and not return from spring break. NOVA classes will be cancelled on March 16 and March 17 to allow for the transition. Most classroom instruction will be conducted virtually from Wednesday, March 18 until April 4.

Senator Tim Kaine Holds Roundtable at NOVA to Discuss the Rewrite of the Higher Education Act

On Monday, March 2, U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee held a roundtable at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) with students, faculty, and Virginia Community College System Chancellor Glenn DuBois along with the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Workforce, Dr. Lori Dywer to discuss workforce development requirements, the need for a Short Term Pell Grant program and the upcoming reauthorization of the Higher Education Act (HEA).

Virginia Chief Workforce Advisor Dr. Megan Healy and Alarm.com Announce First 'Go Virginia' Funded Apprenticeship Program

Dr. Megan Healy, Virginia’s Chief Workforce Development Advisor, today announced the launch of the Alarm.com (Nasdaq: ALRM) Apprenticeship program, the state’s first with support from the ‘GO Virginia’ initiative. During the year-long program, Alarm.com apprentices receive 10 weeks of technical instruction at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) and 9 months of on-the-job training with Alarm.com

Northern Virginia Community College Achieves a ‘Leader College of Distinction’ Award from Achieving the Dream

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) received recognition as a ‘Leader College of Distinction’ from the Achieving the Dream (ATD) national network. Each year ATD honors outstanding achievement of their network colleges through awards and recognition. Being designated as a Leader College of Distinction elevates NOVA’s status within the national network.

On January 13, 2020, Northern Virginia Community College opened the doors to a state-of-the-art engineering technology Fabrication Laboratory. The week-long event kicked off with a prestigious ribbon-cutting to thank members of the institution's partners in the business and legislative community for the support of engineering technology programs.
